Could Interactive Narratives become less interactive in Hollywood?

November 30, 2007

Is the massive popularity and success of these games going to follow them on big screen? This is an article that could possibly help us think a bit. http://us.i1.yimg.com/videogames.yahoo.com/feature/gaming-on-the-big-screen/1171484

I was specifically thinking of Jane when I stumbled across this – http://opendesigns.org/ – but it fits in with what we have been learning about – networks and collaboration, democratisation etc.

Viral marketing – honestly!

Viral Marketing – YouTube – So you want people to interact with your website – read this. You just have to abandon any morals but hey, you’ll be a celebrity.

Artistic integrity seems to go out of the window. I think this is an important post because we need to be aware of what is happening out there.

Nintendo Europe website change

November 22, 2007

Nintendo Europe are about to change their website. It was initially set up in 2002 and the remake is going live at the end of November sometime.

Nintendo have a busy site with lots of information to disseminate, the current site is OK so it will be interesting to see how the makeover goes from a user interaction perspective.

I just caught this today so I thought I’d share it so we can see what a large corporation thinks about providing interactivity on the web and critique its change.

A Touch Sensitive

November 11, 2007

BBC News Technology musing upon the demise of the keyboard and the rise of the finger (if you’ll excuse the expression) all brought into focus by the Apple iPhone It’s sooo sweet but sooo expensive. I saw one yesterday and watched it being ‘pinched’ (a form of screen interaction whereby you  squeeze your fingers together/apart on the touch screen and images shrink/grow, not stolen). It has to be seen to be believed!

I caught a program on radio 4 last week which was quite interesting – a look at the phenomena of social networking websites. I have a recording if anyone is interested  – don’t know if passing it on is strictly legal, it would be interesting to know.

I have also read ’silicon snake oil’ and made some notes which I am happy to pass around – that one I am sure is legal.
